Munţii Parâng şi Munţii Retezat, August 2012
Trekking through two beautiful ranges of southern Carpathians in Romania, Parâng and Retezat. Mountaneous Transilvania at its best, I suppose. August 2012.

After the Milford Track, we followed two renowned tracks on the New Zealand’s Southern Island, Routeburn and Dart, with an excellent base in Kinloch by the shores of the overwhelming Lake Wakatipu. November 2011.
Making an individual slot reservation almost a year before, we finally managed to make the all-too-famous Milford Track on the Southern Island of New Zealand in relatively fine weather. November 2011.
A summer trip to the somehow exceptional Maramureș in three parts. A trek through the Munții Rodnei, thorough sightseeing in the Maramureș valley proper, and a trek along the border in the Munții Maramureșului. Romania, July/August 2011.
A classical round trip in the central Ethiopia, by plane, by jeep and by foot: Addis Ababa, Lalibela, Axum and walking in Tigre, a trek in the Simien Mountains, Gondar, the Lake Tana and the Blue Nile. October/November 2010.
A weekend spent climbing Balmhorn via Zackengrat in Bernese Alps based in Schwarenbach above Kandersteg. September 2010.
The Transilvanian Alps: A tough but very rewarding route strictly along the main ridge of Munții Făgărașului in the southern Carpathians. Just five of us, two tents, eight days on the high ridge. July/August 2010.
A few drops of rain and the desert between the bare sandstone ridges of Wadi Rum is full of blossoming flowers, a welcome fodder for camels. An excursion by jeep and by foot to the majestic mountain ridges raging out of the desert sands on the border between Saudi Arabia and Jordan. March 2010.
Just three backpacks. An extraordinarily rewarding, long and hard trek around the Manaslu Himal with crossing of Larkya La as the key of the route. Simply beautiful, the very essence of a Himalayan trek in Nepal. The contrast of joining for the last walking days the overcrowded trail around Annapurnas could not be larger… However, two soothing days in beautiful Bandipur brought us back to the balance. October/November 2009.
Following the classical route of the trek around the Jebel Toubkal, finalised with climbing the very top of the mount. In addition a road trip from Marrakech over the Atlas passes to Ait Benhaddou and towards Sahara — and a day and a night in Marrakech. April/May 2008.
Yes I admit, it was just an idea of mine… A short trek in the central and then the remote eastern part of Nízke Tatry in Slovakia, unfortunately still affected through large areas of trees broken by a strong hurricane a few years ago. We have managed, but it was partially very disappointing. Closed the loop in Liptovský Ján. June 2007.
Tempted by a trekking agency in Leh, we have taken a monk(!) as a horseman with two beasts of burden for a trek from Ladakh through Zanskar over a novel route. Ended up joining a larger group from the same agency and trying to realise our (novel) route against all odds — and it was an exceptionally rainy summer in Ladakh & Zanskar. After reaching Phuktal Gompa it was finally all new too us — until the Leh-Manali road. August 2006.
